The Office of the Chief Information Officer
(OCIO) is responsible for the security of government’s
electronic information and developing the policies,
standards and programs that protect sensitive
and personal information.
The Information
Security Branch of the OCIO provides the
overall governance for information security
for the Province of British Columbia.
The branch ensures that programs, plans, and
processes are in place to protect sensitive
and personal information, and enables the Province
to respond effectively to all critical information
security incidents.
To support the Provinces business goals
and to ensure the risks to its information resources
are managed appropriately, the branch provides
advisory and investigative services, policy
and compliance management.
The branch also works with the B.C. Government
and the broader public sector to promote awareness
of information security issues and best practices.
