The Data Administration Forum is designed to represent and promote data management knowledge throughout government and the broader public sector. In addition, DAF will work with private sector partners to facilitate the exchange of data management information between its members. Membership is not limited to core government ministries and representation from agencies and crown corporations is welcome (as appropriate).
DAF will work as a community of practice to document, promote, and encourage good data management practices. It will not be responsible for implementing or monitoring compliance of these practices. This will be left up to the data administrators of individual ministries as they are responsible for day-to-day data management functions.
DAF has been recognized as a primary stakeholder by the GCIO and will play a key role in the development of government-wide data management standards. A DAF member sits on the Architecture and Standards Review Board (ASRB) to represent the interests of the forum as it relates to these standards. In addition, the DAF representative will work as a conduit between the two groups, sharing ASRB topics with the forum and tabling new standards on behalf of the membership.
