Identity Management

Integration with e-Health Infrastructure (IAL Project)

One of the related initiatives that has been linked to the BCeIDng project is an integration project with the e-Health Infrastructure called the Information Access Layer or IAL.

Currently in British Columbia, the largest area of investment in information systems and identity management infrastructure is in the health sector.

In order to maximize the return on this investment, British Columbia is building an e-health infrastructure to support other public service domains such as education, social services, justice, and the land and resource sector. A provincial infrastructure for identity management is the long term target.

The IAL is a multi-million dollar, large-scale systems project driven from the Office of the Chief Information Officer with active sponsorship and participation of government ministries and health authorities.

By linking the IAL project to BCeIDng, the province is taking further steps to best leverage its existing assets towards the needed future solutions.
