Community and External Initiatives Branch

In support of the Office of the Chief Information Officer's (OCIO) mandate to bridge the digital divide and its strategy to increase access to high speed broadband connectivity, particularly in rural and remote areas, the branch provides leadership and support for government’s efforts to provide broadband connectivity to 203 First Nations, build capacities of digital literacy skills, technical skills and business skills within First Nations communities in support of connectivity, to ensure broadband connectivity is available in 366 communities, as defined by the Premier’s Technology Council, and to ensure provincial priorities influence the expansion of broadband connectivity in B.C.
